Hey there, X-Fans!

So the Common Plague revealed itself to be a member of the Respirator Gang! But A+B Teams were deployed and I'm really on the road to being 5x5 this time!

Trickily, all this time off broke the stride I was just finding with Envisionings' current storyline --my brain didn't so much as generate a creative thought for days! Though I'm hoping it'll just be a simple matter of retracing my steps to get back on the path.

Curiously my brain started doing that on another track as I had the impulse to go back and make a few edits to already published Parts.

Which brings us to the "+" of this post: Editing Transparency. (Buckle-up. Like any good yarn, it takes a while to get there).

Typically, if I decide something needs to change after I've published a post, I'll look to see if anyone's viewed it first. If not, I feel free to make any changes, minor or major. If eyes have already been on it, I'll typically do "stealth edits" of only minor things; smoothing out transitional text, fixing errors not caught in earlier proof-reads, or even adjusting dialogue if all I'm doing is having the character say the exact same thing in a way that sounds smoother or more "them" to my ear. Basically edits that don't impact the story even if they make for a better read.

I may also stealthily make somewhat larger edits, such as expanding on a scene, and leave that as a fun bonus for readers to encounter as they may, though only if it still falls into the "doesn't really change anything" category. I mean it could deepen or otherwise touch on characterization, but would still be a "the rest of the story functions fine with or without this" kind of thing.

When I must make larger edits, such as with Part 4 of Descension (see X-Archives) which changed the whole tone of a scene, I'll release a post stating this either with the edit following, or redirect you readers to go back to the original post to read it -like recently done with the revised second half to Part 8!

But there are also times when edits I want to make are relegated to "I'll make them when I do another pass" -such as the 2nd Edition. Because I know there's going to be another pass; the story just isn't "there" yet.

But these times I kind of want to get away from.

It's been totally beneficial that I went all through the Initial arch of Envisionings and the beginning of NeXt before deciding to make that other pass, but I don't think it's conducive to keep working on a wheel like that (going so far only to go back over everything) -I'd much rather firm things up and polish them as they occur to me and as I'm able.

Have the story be more of a "living" work than a static one, if you will.

Though I wouldn't want to keep saying "Hey there, X-Fans! I've made changes! Go back and read them!" because that just doesn't sound like a great experience for anyone!

Then something occurred to me: to take a page out of Marvel Snap's production line book, so to speak! The way they release their Patch Notes etc. detailing changes to existing content and the reasons for them, I think that could work perfectly here. That way the story gets to grow in real time, and you readers get to know the what and why in a more digestible manner.

This will be implemented straight away -in fact in this very post! (Then in future through posts with an obvious title, like "Recent Editing Rundown")

So without further ado, here are operative edits made recently:

Envisionings 2nd Edition Part 2 -Adjusted Jean Grey's opening dialogue in the "Meeting Scene" to better fit context (and pay subtle homage to something rather than amateurly rip it off) -Removed mention of needing a "voice on the street" for having a better place at a different point in Envisionings | Likewise removed set-up for intro'ing Warren

-Adjusted Cyclops & Jean's interaction / dialogue: Directly following Meeting Scene, and in Danger Room Scene, to reflect a more accurate mood

-Adjusted Danger Class Scene to fit with the above.

Envisionings 2nd Edition Part 4 -Added-On to Cyclops & Jean's conversation in the X-Jet to make for a better subject transition and give insight into Cyclops' mindset.

I'm going to use this "Editing Rundown" format to make mention of all aforementioned types of edits exempting typos and transitional text adjustments (that by the way being when I go all narratorly like "and from one dangerous scene to another, we join back up with Cyclops!") because I think that could just bloat the rundowns, for one thing.

And that's enough from me for now!

Thanks for joining in the journey, X-Fans! And I hope the next thing you'll see from me will be the much anticipated, finally continuing release of our present storyline! Until then, and always after, keep Envisioning, Envisioneers!
